This is a photo from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
A lovely bride and her groom.
Nephew from Norway and something written in a foreign language. Perhaps someone can translate.
Thanks for stopping by.
Update from Uncle Jeff:
Frithjof and Björg
Update from Iggy:
I think they are:
Bjørg Åsne Wathne (nee' Braut) (March 16, 1926 in Klepp, Rogaland, Norway - August 20, 2009 in ?)
And her husband
Frithjof Hugo Carlson Wathne (March 16, 1912 in Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway - February 9, 2002 in ?)
There were/are a number of Wathne's living in the Milo, Mille Lacs, Minnesota area.
On the top: Frithjof og Björg --> Frithjof and Björg (Pronounced Frityoff og Byurg, the u as in urge).
ReplyDeleteUretusjert prøve --> unretouched sample [photo].
I can't find the photographer on the web. It seems to me that it says Johnsen & Solb... (Solberg?).
Yes Solb I think. OR Sotb...hard to tell.
DeleteJohnson & Sotberg was founded in Bodø, Norway in 1951, and still exists...

Oh, how can people put in all that description and yet omit the very basic detail of a name?! Even if the nephew's name is not remembered, at least name his dad or mom. Surely that relationship could be recalled!
ReplyDeleteGood looking couple!

If these are the ones, then they were at least 25 and 39 when they married (given that Johnson&Sotberg started in 1951), and they married in Bodø in the north of Norway, while both came from the south of Norway (Stavanger region).
DeleteThe daughter of the Wathne couple is on facebook.
