Photo Number 2257

This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.Cab card unknown DL antiques shop

I.I. Floe Blue Earth City Minn

I believe the photographers are most likely Isaac and Iver Floe /Flo brothers who were partners in Blue Earth during the 1880’s.

They are holding hands, but it looks more like a handshake?

They both have small corsages, he wears a cut away style suit coat and she a dark colored gown with beautiful designs and a beautiful bridal bonnet. I believe this photo was taken about 1885-1890.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Interesting photo and pose.

http://www.mnhs.org/people/photographers/F.php has an interesting blurb on the brothers, wife, and daughter, all of which worked in the studio (and it had a number of branch offices too).

  2. Posing the couple with right hands held would have to look like a handshake. I would have thought unusual posing would be to feature something like the hands with the rings...but that would have been their left hands. Who knows? They may have had entirely different customs or symbolic gestures back then that we don't know about.

  3. The woman appears to be a bit hesitant.
