Gertrude L. nee' Mayberry is Find A Grave Memorial# 114998809.

Gertrude married James William Phelps (21 Jun 1861 in Nobel County, Ohio - 1 Nov 1929 in Belvidere, Boone, Illinois) I think James was Charles (the father in the previous photo) older brother.

Photo Number 1455   Richard and Harriet Vanderlinden
Just saw that you had a postcard of my mother and her brother.... It is #1455.. Any chance you still have it?

Pat

I mailed off the postcard, and asked Pat to share something about her Mother.

My mother was raised in Twin Valley, MN in a family of 3 girls, and 5 boys. My mother got her teachers degree at Moorhead college, and got her first teaching job at Kalevala school, Kettle River, MN.  When she started teaching, only single teachers were hired at Kalevala,  therefore, when she met and married my dad, Walter Gran, she took a job in Kettle River that allowed married women.  She worked there for many many years, and loved her family and teaching.  I thought this was always interesting.  They had a great life, married 51 years, and passed away in 1982  2000 at the age of 82.  She had 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

I am glad to report that the postcard arrived safely.  Thanks for stopping by.
