This is a Cabinet Card from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
The photographer was A. Risem of 522 Tower Ave W. Superior, Wis.
The groom is relaxed his wicker chair while resting his shoes on some kind of animal skin. He wears a suit with a white bowtie and a corsage. The bride clutches half a dozen long stemmed flowers perhaps roses tied up with a white bow. The brides dark gown looks to have a very fancy embroidered trim, the bodice of her gown has folds and smocking ending in a high neck. She wears a long bridal bonnet that is trimmed with flowers.
This photograph was most likely taken around 1900.
Thanks for stopping by. Do come again:)
Interesting how his hair flips up on the ends.
ReplyDeleteA dark gown - was that common then? Could it be a second marriage? They are very tailored and well dressed.
ReplyDeleteDark wedding gowns were very normal. They were practical dresses that could be worn again and again. White was worn mostly by the wealthy, white was not a practical color..think muddy streets and men that spit in the streets..:)
DeleteMakes plenty of sense. Thanks.
DeleteTwo more (this one and the last one) beautiful dresses...
