This is a CdV from the antique shop in Brainerd Minnesota.
Often times ladies would collect the hair from their hair brushes. With that hair they would make “rats” .. rats were a kind of a hair piece that could be pinned into your hair where ever you wanted fuller hair. I think this lady may have had a rat in the front of her hair..to make it stand up. She appears to have a braid at the back of her head.
Her dress has somewhat poufy sleeves, has a high collar with white trim and a brooch. This photo is most likely from the early 1890’s.
