Photo Number 436

This is page 31 in the Nettie Parks Album.

Page 32 Boy with checkerd tie A young man that is not identified.  C B Strawn took this photo in Elliot Iowa.

Page 32 Boy with tie back This cabinet card has an ornate back.  It is most likely from the 1890’s.

With this photo we complete the pages within the album.  However there were an additional 23 photos tucked into the back of this album.  We will look at them, some are marked..some are not..some are names we have heard before..some are new names.  I am convinced that this was indeed Nettie Leal Crandall Parks album, and she was the person that wrote in this album sometime before she died at the age of 72 in 1943.

IMG_0781 Inside the back cover is her name just like in the front cover.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again:)

  2. Elliott is just a stones throw north of Red Oak, Iowa.

I am impressed with just how many relatives Nettie had living within 20 miles of her - I'd guess she easily had at least 40... Family reunion/picnics must of be something. :)

Ugh. Another man known by his initials! C B Strawn, who were you? :)

  4. I have books that had been my mothers and some I bought in antique shops, they all have the person's name written inside the front cover. My sister did that with a few books when she was young. I wonder why we don't really do that anymore?

  5. It is a wonderful photo holding this young man in a state of youth. My two albums had a dozen loose items with them and I don't see them being actually connected to the family albums. I suppose in laws or friends.

  6. Charles Beecher "CB" Strawn (b. 1847 in Indiana d. 1930) moved to Dallas, Iowa sometime after 1870, and then on to Washington Township, Adams, Iowa sometime after 1885.

By the 1910 US Census, he is in Potter County, Texas with at least nine children. I wonder how much he enjoyed moving! :)
